Guided By Voices Classic Line-Up To Tour

GBV Classic To Tour There are fewer geekier people in the world than the die-hard Guided By Voices fan (of which I am one). Having seen them many, many times, I'm both excited and scared for this tour. Excited to see the amazing rock sensation with its 1993-1996 "classic" line...

Sign Yourself To A Record Label

The Indelicates are one of my favourite bands. They write intelligent angry pop songs in the style of Luke Haines fronting the E Street band. I loved their first record American Demos, released two years ago. So when I read that the label that released their album was folding, I...

OK Go - End Love Video Premiere

OK Go keeps bringing the hits with their music videos. I like it for a lot of reasons, only one of which is that the video was shot in Echo Park. It's live action stop motion, and completely adorable. Like the band.

DJ Earworm Returns With Summer Mash-Up (video)

About six months ago, DJ Earworm, a master of the post-modern language of mash-up, made a name of himself when he put together a video mix of last year's 25 top billboard hits. The aptly titled "United States of Pop 2009" became a Youtube sensation and clocks at over 22...

KORN To Boycott BP Oil Products On Their Upcoming Tour

 Korn-III

Motivated by the BP disaster and its devastating effects, heavy rock outfit KORN, who have sold more than 30 million records worldwide, take a stand by launching a boycott against using the company’s gasoline while on tour this summer. The band has formally announced that it will not be fueling any of its touring vehicles with BP products and is strongly encouraging other touring artists to do the same.

“The daily images are hard to watch,” says Korn frontman Jonathan Davis. “We need to do our part to let BP know there are consequences for causing something like this. We want to send a message to corporations like BP so that they will take more preventative measures in the future. The more costly their punishment, the more money they will spend to make sure disasters like this don’t happen again. It’s plain and simple capitalism.”

In a timely coincidence of life imitating art, Korn’s new album artwork, photography and stage set imagery reference the band’s hometown area near Bakersfield, CA and its bleak landscape littered with oil rigs. The video for the first single “Oildale (Leave Me Alone)” reveals a poverty-stricken area situated among the rich oil fields and tells a story of a young boy’s desire to escape. The video story echoes the band’s own struggle out of Bakersfield. Davis adds, “It was one thing for us to grow up near such poverty. But the situation in the Gulf takes things to a whole new level where people’s lives and livelihoods are affected forever.”

Korn will spend their summer as a headliner on the third annual Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival playing in 14,000 to 30,000 seat amphitheaters. “We urge the other acts on Mayhem and anyone on tour this year to be with us on this,” Davis also said.

Korn is touring to support their upcoming album, due out July 13, 2010. The title, Korn III – Remember Who You Are, is a reference to the band’s past and is a nod to their roots.

NEUROSIS To Celebrate The 25th Anniversary Of ENEMY OF THE SUN With Re-Issue

Neurot Recordings is proud to announce the reissue of one of the most groundbreaking releases in the ever-expanding lineage of icons NEUROSIS, Enemy Of The Sun.

With NEUROSIS' earlier releases -- 1987's Pain Of Mind, and even 1990's The Word As Law -- the band's jagged and eerie blend of metallic, hypnotic, post-gutter punk was instantly recognized as wholly unique, yet it took multiple releases for the then Bay-area unit to infinitely define their sound, forcing the world to listen, then run for cover. Their 1992 full-length Souls At Zero showcased the band branching off into much more expanded songwriting, giving birth to much longer hymns, infusing them with tribal rhythms and slow-building post-doom bastardization, then breaking massive new ground for the metal world.

But it was their follow-up in 1993, the crushing Enemy Of The Sun LP, that would be the album to take the pulsing, hypnotizing monoliths NEUROSIS was crafting down to much darker, and much, much heavier territory for the rest of the band's still-growing roster of masterpieces. Still to this day, critics and fans of heavy and experimental metal hold this release to be one of the harshest, spine-chilling, mind-warping releases in history, and countless acts have cited Enemy... as "the one that changed everything" for them.

The eight tracks on the release was one of the most massively cavernous, crushing records the world had experienced. A mesmerizing, pressurizing, dirge-driven display of brutal riffing, thick with haunting samples, layered, anguished vocal tracks, raging multiple-member percussion contributions, and some of the most mammoth buildups ever, Enemy Of The Sun was an album that left a sense of anguish in your soul long after the record was over.

Neurot Recordings are exceptionally proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of NEUROSIS, and once again issue this classic album to the masses. 2010's reissue of Enemy Of The Sun bears a fully redesigned package by visionary artist, Neurosis live visual master Josh Graham, and will be released worldwide on August 30th, 2010.
