Ben Affleck - Batman Enough?

Over the years we have seen many great actors grace our screens with the honour of being Batman. We might not have thought they could get any better than Christian Bale who starred in Batman Begins in 2005, The Dark Knight in 2008 and The Dark Knight Rises which was released in 2012.

Before Christian Bale, we saw Adam West start off the future of Batman with the series in 1966. Michael Keaton was next to star as Batman in 1992. Batman Forever in 1995 starred Val Kilmer and George Clooney featured in Batman and Robin in 1997. With a line up like this, surely it's hard to beat?

The main question on people's lips at the moment is Ben Affleck? Really?

A bold move, and one that many worry will not work out and ruin the Batman experience for everyone. For an actor that hasn't had the best luck in previous film reviews, this role could be rather temperamental.

Although the 41 year old actor may have restored hope in some of us if we think back to his Oscar winning roles in Pearl Harbour and Armageddon. Christian did a great job of wowing us and it will take a lot to be as good as him, let alone better. The possibility is still there. For others there is no hope as a petition has been signed by 85,000 people wanting him to be replaced by another star. He will be playing alongside Henry Cavill who will be playing Superman (as the new film to be released in 2015 will be starring both superheroes alongside one another).

The Batman franchise has always been a strong one, but with the announcement of another film comes a revival. Metro Play are getting involved with the introduction of a Batman slots game to their already impressive line-up including other film and TV slots like Battlestar Galactica, Tomb Raider and more. In the Dark Knight Rises game, players will take on Bane for a chance to win the jackpot.

Media fans are hitting back on twitter with many responses being disappointed and outraged – not particularly a warm welcome for Affleck. Will this push him to strive for Batman success and prove to everyone he is as great as we expect? He also has George Clooney as his old opponent, although George always has been a hard one to beat. It is always hard to achieve movie success when you're up against a line of great actors.

Affleck is not the only actor in the hot seat of movie roles at the moment as Hollywood seems to be going a bit crazy and casting major roles to the most unexpected of people. As we saw by Daniel Craig's performance in 2005 when he was cast, great things can happen. If it's anyone's footsteps he needs to follow, its Daniels. Jennifer Lawrence who starred in The Hunger Games is another one that stirred fans.
