With Benicio Del Toro out of the picture, J.J. Abrams & co. are tasked with finding another actor to play the villain - whom most believe, at this point, will be Khan - in the sequel to STAR TREK. So far, two names have cropped up as strong possibilities.
Variety reports that Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez (CARLOS) is the frontrunner, while Jordi Molla (COLOMBIANA) is also a contender for the role. Ramirez is expected to do a screen test via Skype, with a decision to be made by the weekend. Talk about a fast turn-around.
STAR TREK 2 is due out in theaters on May 17, 2013.
