Peter Weller, perhaps best known for his role in ROBOCOP, has joined the cast of the sequel to STAR TREK, Variety reports.
The specifics of his role are unknown, but given the recent casting of Alice Eve as an original character, we have reason to believe that Weller will also be playing a new character.
Also in STAR TREK casting news is the famed Benicio Del Toro controversy. Several news outlets have reported that the actor will play the villain Khan in the film, while director J.J. Abrams himself has refuted such claims.
Abrams is set to direct from a script penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof. The film is due out in theaters on May 17, 2013.
