If there was ever an unnecessary remake, this might be it. Lionsgate has hired a screenwriter to pen a new version of AMERICAN PSYCHO, the Bret Easton Ellis adaptation that only 11 years ago saw Christian Bale in an iconic starring role.
Noble Jones is the scribe, but he is a veritable unknown; his only IMDb credit is as the second unit director for THE SOCIAL NETWORK. Nevertheless, Lionsgate appears to have faith in him, so that clearly counts for something.
Variety offers little other information except that Jones' version updates the time frame to modern-day New York. But who, then, will take the place of Huey Lewis and the News, Patrick Bateman's band of choice?
