Benicio Del Toro To Play Khan In STAR TREK 2?

The rumor mill has been cranking for weeks over whether or not J.J. Abrams's choice to play the villain in his STAR TREK sequel, Benicio Del Toro, will actually step into the role. Today, the Latino Review claims to know the truth: Del Toro is in, and will be playing the iconic villain Khan in the second film.
The Latino Review article said to "expect rebuttals and denials," and we already have one to contend with. When Hitfix asked Abrams directly if Del Toro has signed on to play Khan Noonien Singh, the director was blunt and said, "Not true."
Is Abrams engaging in a bit of misdirection on behalf of the production's mystique, or is Del Toro really nowhere near the film at this point? It's hard to say, but we'll be sure to keep you updated as more developments roll in.
