Good afternoon...
For those of you who are looking for a little snack to get you through your Thursdays, I think have the cure for what ails you. Hasbro has released exclusive images of some hot new products that will be showcased later this month at Comic-Con (San Diego Convention Center July 21-24). Here is a rundown of some of the highlights...
Transformers gets the leadoff spot, thanks to last weekend's record setting opening of Dark of The Moon. Meet the Ultimate Optimus Prime. Standing an impressive 22" tall, I blogged about this item when we got a sneak peak of it back in February when Hasbro came to NYC for it's annual Toy Fair. It was awesome then. Just as awesome now.
The other popular Transformers brand these days is Transformers Prime, the hit CGI animation show airing on the HUB. The fine folks with this show have released an Optimus figure called Optimus Prime Zero. A little different take from the movie version. This fits the Optimus likeness from Transformers Prime.
Moving on to America's favorite special forces unit, G.I. Joe, here are a few more toys that first made an appearance at the NYC Toy Fair.
First, a pair of new Zarana figures. One is a more traditional Dreadnock uniform that we are used to seeing with her. But the second figure is the Cold Slither Zarama- a reference to an episode in the original G.I. Joe cartoon series where the Dreadnocks formed a rock band called Cold Slither. While this episode aired a season before Zarana joined the show, we will let that slide because the figure looks good.
And rounding out our highlight show is one of the talks of the whole NYC Toy Fair. A merging of two of the top brands Hasbro has to offer- G.I. Joe and Transformers. It's a Starscream model Skystriker that comes with a Cobra Commander pilot figure. A truly great item for those of you who have not seen it.
Also appearing at Comic Con are a few other brands from the Hasbro front, namely Marvel, who has already had a busy summer with the film releases of Thor X-Men and Captain America. Be sure to check out all that they have to offer.
Have a great Comic-Con to all!
