E3 2011: Highlights From EA'S Press Conference

EA is one of the major video game publisher to hold a conference at this year's E3. Here is what went down at the keynote:
- MASS EFFECT 3 announced for a March 6, 2012 release
- NEED FOR SPEED: THE RUN demoed; includes racing by foot
- STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC previewed
- SSX announced for a January 2012 release
- FIFA 12 previewed; has a new physics engine for players, which allows them to tug-and-pull at one another while going after the ball
- EA SPORTS LIVE FOOTBALL SERVICE announced; allows players to "connect and compete" across multiple platforms, including Facebook, iPhone, iPad, and PC
- MADDEN 12 announced for August 30
- THE SIMS SOCIAL for Facebook; allows players to share their SIMS experience with friends
- KINGDOMS OF AMALUR previewed; hundreds of hours of gameplay promised
- Pre-rendered trailer shown for OVERSTRIKE, a new multi-platform franchise about a black ops team
- BATTLEFIELD 3 demoed; free BATTLELOG service presented that allows players to connect through the game
