Although MODERN WARFARE 3 isn't due out until the fall, a great deal of information about its plot and gameplay has already been leaked to Kotaku. It goes without saying that there are spoilers ahead, so those who would prefer to wait until the game's release should stop reading here.
The game begins where MODERN WARFARE 2 left off, with the U.S. scrambling the prevent a Russian invasion of Manhattan. From there, the player will engage in fifteen missions around the world, including in New York, Paris, and London, before a final showdown occurs in Dubai. There will be 20 multiplayer maps with two spec ops modes, "survival" and "mission;" the locations of these maps will expand to locales such as Brooklyn and Mogadishu.
Players will have the opportunity to take on the roles of a Russian Federal Protective Services agent, an SAS Operative, a tank gunner, and an AC-130 gunner at different points throughout the game. Still, players will see some new characters as well as old faces in this installment of the series.
