At New York's Midtown Comics earlier today, Marvel unveiled a new event titled FEAR ITSELF, which will span seven issues next year and involve major players in the Marvel Universe.
The series, helmed by a creative team of Matt Fraction and Stuart Immonen (with Ed Brubaker and Scot Eaton working on a prologue issue due out in March), centers on the notion of fear. Joe Quesada, Marvel's Chief Creative Officer, spoke at length on the subject while introducing the event:
"It's a great time to be fearful...The world has gotten smaller, and fear, above all else, seems to be a great motivator. There are no shortage of frauds, charlatans, and despots looking to fan the fire."
FEAR ITSELF, as its name suggests, will focus on this theme while bringing all the heroes and villains of the Marvel universe together. VP-Executive Editor Tom Brevoort likened FEAR ITSELF to CIVIL WAR in terms of ambition, scale, and tone.
The first issue of FEAR ITSELF will be 45 pages long and is set at a $3.99 price point.
