Welcome back to the '80's, my friends.
When the HUB rebranded from Discovery Kids and hit the airwaves last month, it announced its presence with authority by bringing back such TV classics from our youth like "The Wonder Years", "Doogie Howser M.D." and of course "G.I. Joe" and "The Transformers", much to the delight of Generation X and Y'ers everywhere.
After buttering us up for the last month by allowing us to relive some great childhood memories, the network is now taking the next step by releasing some amazing new original programming from two of our favorite brands. Beginning Thanksgiving weekend and continuing into early December, the HUB will debut the new original animated series "G.I. Joe Renegades" and the original CGI mini-series event "Transformers: Prime". Both series will be executive produced by Jeff Kline, who's TV credits also include "The Jackie Chan Adventures."
Preceding the debuts of both programs, The Hub will present a half-hour behind-the-scenes special, “Hub Exclusive: ‘G.I. Joe Renegades’ and ‘Transformers: Prime’” (3:30 p.m. ET), showcasing two original series on The Hub. The special is followed by the world premiere of the first two half-hour episodes (5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET) of “G.I. Joe Renegades.” The series will continue in its regular time period, Friday, December 3, with an encore presentation at 5 p.m. ET and a new episode premiere at 5:30 p.m. ET.
"G.I. Joe Renegades" takes us back to the back to the origins of the G.I. Joe storyline, in which the world’s most elite renegade force of highly trained specialists are forced to band together to prevent their nemesis, the evil forces of Cobra Industries, from achieving global domination. It features the voice talents of Lee Majors ("The Six Million Dollar Man") and Charlie Adler, who reprises his role Cobra Commander that he played in the animated series G.I. Joe: Resolute and also played the voice of Low Light in the original G.I. Joe series in the 1980's. Story editors include Marty Isenberg (“Ben 10,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “Batman the Animated Series”) and Henry Gilroy (“Star Wars: Clone Wars,” “The Tick” and “Batman the Animated Series.”).
