It's time to get your picks in for Week 4. Here are our picks vs. the spread, courtesy of TheFantasyGeek.com - Stop by today for tips on making picks and everything fantasy football!
That’s right. The picks have been so poor, I’m changing the name of the damn column until we can earn the name Pickin’ Winners. Sammy (7-9) and The Geek (6-10) were downright pathetic in Week 3 (but at least Sammy hit our first lock of the season). But here’s the thing. The NFL season is loooooong. If you start 0-3 in fantasy football, you’re screwed because the regular season ends after 13 or 14 weeks. But in Pick ‘Em, you have all 17 weeks, so there’s plenty of time to make up for a lousy start. And that’s what we intend to do.
We’ve got out first round of byes this week, so that makes every game count that much more. And we’ve finally got some sizeable spreads, with half of the lines over 6 points. I’m taking my share of favorites this week, but I’m steering clear of the two biggest ones. I’m taking Detroit +14.5 because they always seem to thrive in garbage time and the Packers can’t run the ball too well without Ryan Grant. I’m also taking Carolina, despite how putrid they’ve looked. The Panthers have lost every game this season by 13 points. If they do that gain, they’ll cover against a Saints team that seems out of sync and is susceptible to the run. Plus, Drew Brees and Pierre Thomas are banged up. One final note: after being tempted to take the 49ers again, I finally came to my senses and was able to cut my losses and move on. Now watch them win outright against Atlanta! Alright on to the…
WEEK 4 PICKS
(Spreads from ESPN’s Pigskin Pick ‘Em)

I WILL SURVIVE
Pretty boring week in survivor pools. If you got killed, it’s because you tried to be a hero and did something stupid. The Patriots, Ravens, Vikings, Colts and Bengals all won by at least a touchdown. The only big upset on the board was the Rams over the Redskins.
Now there are two fewer games to choose from, which would typically make things more challenging. But like I said previously, there are a lot of big spreads, so there’s not sense of panic, like in Week 1. You could go with the Saints who could probably sleepwalk to a win against the declawed Panthers. You could choose the Falcons to beat up on the San Francisco Zeroers. The Jets look like a sure thing at the Buffalo Nils. The Colts are a decent bet to get by the Jacksonville Draguars. I avoid the Chargers at all costs after losing with them in Week 1, but they should pull out a win vs. the Arizona Retardinals. I would advise against taking the Eagles at home against the division-rival Redskins. And you never know…the Broncos could surprise the Titans. If you’re thinking, “You left out the most obvious team,” that’s because they’re my pick for Week 4…
GREEN BAY
over Detroit
I don’t love using up a top team this early. My decision came down to one thing: Green Bay’s schedule. They’ve got Miami, Minnesota, Dallas, San Francisco, New York (Giants) and Chicago at home. None of those are easy games (except for maybe my favorite flops, the 49ers). And the Pack travels to Washington, New York (Jets), Minnesota, Atlanta, Detroit and New England. Detroit’s the only easy win in the bunch and that’s not until Week 14. So I’m pulling out the big gun this week, in a game that may be closer than people think, but will ultimately put a “W” in the win column for the Packers.
Already picked: San Diego (and Tennessee), Atlanta, Baltimore
