What do you get when you take legendary filmmaker Terry Gilliam, the mecca of autoracing Talladega Superspeedway and a healthy dose of paranormal activity? It's THE LEGEND OF HALLOWDEGA, a look at decades of strange goings on at Charlotte, NC's most famous racing venue. Gilliam is joined by hosts David Arquette, WEEDS star Justin Kirk and racing legends Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Darrell Waltrip in possibly the wildest sports and entertainment mash-up we'e ever seen.
Gilliam's paranormal project tied into the AMP Energy Juice 500 at Talladega on Halloween, with the first chapter airing prior to the race broadcast on ESPN. The entire short film is now available on the official LEGEND OF HALLOWDEGA website.
It's a really interesting mix of subject matter and filmmaker, as Gilliam never fails to do something interesting with his work (see LOST IN LA MANCHA immediately!). But the director of BRAZIL meets NASCAR with ghosts in the middle? And David Arquette to boot? I'm very curious to check this one out.
