DUKE NUKEM FOREVER Lands At BORDERLANDS Studio

Kotaku has picked up on a rumor that Gearbox Software, the studio behind BORDERLANDS, is continuing development of DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.

The fate of the long-delayed game became uncertain to say the least when its studio, 3D Realms, shut down in 2009. Publisher Take Two Interactive later sued 3D Realms when it failed to have the game finished within a reasonable time frame.

Gearbox is said to be picking up where 3D Realms left off, and the plan is to release DUKE NUKEM FOREVER under the Gearbox name.

A spokesperson for Take Two Interactive confirmed that the company still holds the publishing rights to the title, but declined to comment about the game's development.

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford declined to comment on the matter.
