According to Heat Vision, J.J. Abrams will be producing an adaptation of the robot-themed graphic novel/picture book BOILERPLATE for Paramount.
BOILERPLATE, by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett, tells the story of the world's first robot, whose adventures range from Antarctic expeditions and fighting in the Spanish-American War to rubbing elbows with Mark Twain and starring in silent films.
The book features doctored historical images of Boilerplate in battle and posing with such historical figures as Teddy Roosevelt. BOILERPLATE originally began as Paul Guinan's online pitch for a graphic novel using these "archival images" to drum up interest. The website soon became an unintentional hoax as visitors to the site believed the photos were real.
