NELSON ON CRUZ CONTROL
By Si Korot, Senior Contributing Writer
Texas Outfielder Nelson Cruz hit a home run in the
top of the 10th inning to give the Texas Rangers a big win over the
Cleveland Indians Monday afternoon. Going 2-for-4 today, with 2 RBI and a
run scored, Cruz is hitting .458, with 5 HRs, 11 RBI and 7 runs scored
after 7 games. Not too shabby for a player who went in the 10th round in
many fantasy drafts.
After missing approximately 30 games due to injury in 2009, Cruz had
deemed himself healthy for the campaign ahead. Without much prior
production to fall back on, fantasy owners were tentative about drafting
of the late-blooming Dominican. But if he fell to you in the 9th, 10th
or even 11th round, more power to you so far. The dude’s on FIRE!
