It is the single most bet upon event of the year. Vegas makes a mint each year with amateur handicappers plunking down coin on such important parts of the game as "First Penalty" to "Length Of Halftime." But some people actually bet on the outcome of the game. And it looks like the early money is flooding sports books and Jersey Gentleman's Clubs on the Colts. Almost two weeks before kickoff, the Colts started out favored by 3.5 points and now they are creeping towards being favored by a touchdown.
Early Super Bowl bettors don't see them being very equal. The point spread for the big game opened between 3 and 4 (usually three 1/2), but has risen to 5 1/2 or 6. That big a move is rare and indicates heavy action on the favorites.
"We've seen nothing but Colt money at this point," Jay Rood, director of the MGM Mirage's Sports Book in Las Vegas said in an interview with Bloomberg.
