Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon's Democratic rival, longtime incumbent U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd, will announce today that he will not seek reelection, according to the Hartford Courant. The Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is slated to announce today that he intends to seek the Democratic nomination.
This is wildly viewed as a major blow to McMahon's election hopes as Blumenthal is a popular figure in a state that normally votes Democrat. McMahon resigned her position with the family-run wrestling empire in order to chase her political dreams in mid-2009.
