WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsBarBQ.com. The following items are among the highlights.
-Ross on the WWE Royal Rumble: "Yes, this year's Royal Rumble, this Sunday night on PPV, is the most hard to call, unpredictable WWE PPV in a good while. I wish I could be there to call it if for nothing else the Rumble match. This isn't a company line hyperbole but how I honestly feel. Several men could win the Rumble match and it would make sense. I look for some significant surprises in Atlanta."
Powell's POV: My guess is that one of the usual suspects such as Triple H or John Cena will win, but I really hope I'm wrong. I'd love to see them elevate a younger wrestler or go with a surprise entrant such as Edge.
-Ross on Bobby Lashley's Strikeforce debut: 'Bobby Lashley proved to me that his immediate, full time future is in MMA. Bobby won in a 1st round stoppage of a lackluster fight because of an unprepared fighter who took the fight on a week's notice. Lashley will get much better but is a year maybe more away from fighting Fedor or so it seems."
Powell's POV: Lashley looked good, but I want to see him face a legitimate opponent. There's nothing wrong with Wes Sims, but the guy took the fight on short notice, so there's an asterisk next to the "W" in my mind. That said, I don't blame Lashley for it since he was a good sport about not knowing which fighter he'd face.
Other topics include more on the Royal Rumble and Saturday night's Strikeforce MMA event.
