Relativity's problematic remake of THE CROW has hired both a director and a writer, Heat Vision reports.
Horror director F. Javier Gutierrez will helm the film, directing from a script penned by Jesse Wigutow. Wigutow's credits include work on ERAGON, THE RUINS, and Summit's THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND.
Plans for the CROW remake went downhill after Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Bradley Cooper, who were originally attached to the project, walked out. To add insult to injury, Relativity's distributing partner, the Weinsteins, filed a lawsuit against the company claiming breach of contract. The legal dispute has since been resolved, and both Relativity and the Weinstein Company are working in tandem to produce and distribute the film.
