Mark Wahlberg Confirms Nathan Drake Role

In an interview with MTV News, Mark Wahlberg confirmed that he will play Nathan Drake in David O. Russell's upcoming adaptation of UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE. He said that Russell is working on having the project ready for a summer shoot.

Wahlberg also commented on the recent rumor that Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro will be part of the film:

"I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."

It appears as though Russell wants to explore the world of UNCHARTED beyond that presented in the video game. It's an interesting concept, but whether or not fans will accept the expanded mythos remains to be seen.
