FANTASY BASEBALL: HOOTS & HOLLERS

MUTTERINGS OF A MADMAN:
So, Hong-Chih Kuo is the Dodgers’ closer- again!
Hopefully, manager Joe Torre works him no more than one inning in a
game, as going beyond that seems to be a weakness of Kuo’s. May be hard
since the Dodgers seem to be thin in the bullpen… it is very awkward to
have a star player like Josh Hamilton being “out for a
few” if you’re in the fantasy playoffs and you don’t know what to do
with your lineup for the week ahead. It has always been my contention
that every point counts in the playoffs. There is obviously no turning
back. If you have a good bench, it is usually better to be safe than
sorry… Corey Hart has got to be the waiver
pick up of the year, which has me wondering what I was doing sitting on
my hands when I could have grabbed him… well, Johan Santana and
his pectoral muscle are doing fine, thank you. He just had a good
bullpen session. At least that’s one ace that we can depend on in the
stretch run if still afloat… I totally worry about Albert Pujols
hitting just .140 since tweaking his ankle a week ago, but he’s just
not the kind of guy you can afford to sit if you’re in the thick of
things… Am I the only one who has lost interest in Cliff Lee since he joined the Texas Rangers? Don’t use him this week, as he is going to miss his Tuesday start due to illness…
RIPE FOR THE PICKIN’:
Fernando Rodney is a great source of saves as he has
taken over the reigns, at least temporarily, for the Angels… As
mentioned before, Kuo is a good source of saves again… Neil Walker is playing some serious ball for the Pirates and is good as a MI or CI filler if you need somebody… Marcus Thames is getting some run with the Yankees and could be a good add in deep leagues… Drew Stubbs goes through hot and cold streaks and should be picked up prior to his next positive escapade…
INJURY WATCH:
Before you set your lineups on Monday, check status updates for Jose Reyes (oblique), Brian Fuentes (back), Josh Hamilton (ribs), Marco Scutaro (shoulder), Justin Upton (shoulder), Dallas Braden (hamstring), Nick Swisher (knee), Elvis Andrus (hamstring), and Adam Jones (shoulder).
