One of the most talented blue-liners to ever put on a pair of skates has officially called it a career, as TSN is reporting that the highly decorated All-Star has finally hanged up his skates for a future position with the Detroit Red Wings.

His 1,651 career games with Detroit, Montreal, Chicago and Atlanta are the most by any defenceman in NHL history.

The three-time Norris Trophy winner will continue to be involved with the game, accepting a job with the Red Wings as an adviser to hockey operations.

A three-time Stanley Cup winner, Chelios retires with 185 career goals and 763 assists in the regular season. He added an additional 31 goals and 113 assists in the playoffs.

What jersey do you think Chelios should wear when it comes time for the Hall Of Fame? I'm putting my money on The Red Wings.
