SPIDER-MAN Actor Shortlist: The Search For Peter Parker

     The Hollywood Reporter claims to have the shortlist of actors in the running for the role of Peter Parker in the recently-announced SPIDER-MAN reboot:

Jamie Bell (BILLY ELLIOT)

Andrew Garfield (THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS)

Alden Ehrenreich (TETRO)

Frank Dillane (HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE)

Josh Hutcherson (JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH)

     It looks like an interesting group of relative unknowns, with some veterans like Bell and Hutcherson as well as newcomers like Dillane. Slashfilm compiled images of the actors for easy comparison. I agree with author Russ Fischer, who says that Garfield (second from the left) really looks the part and has the acting chops to do the job right.

     Director Marc Webb has been quietly conducting meetings and readings with these actors, although there have yet to be screen tests. Sony has not commented on this stage of the film's development.
