Fast Food Review WITH VIDEO! Mountain Dew's DEW-mocracy

Mello Yello may be my favorite soda in the whole wide world,
but since it’s quite difficult to find here in Southern
California – Chuck E. Cheese and the Coke museum in Vegas are the
only places I know about – the next best thing is that which Mello Yello was
trying to rip off in the first place: Mountain Dew.
Before Red Bull, Mountain Dew was known as the caffeine king
of carbonated beverages, and its glowing green color, suggesting radioactivity
and/or Kryptonite, only added to the appeal. Quark could have served this on
Deep Space Nine.
When they started branching out, I was all for it. Code Red,
which added cherry-ish flavor to the mix, is
still a fave, and the grape Pitch Black got better when they decided to
make it extra sour. I’m basically all for diversity in sodas, believing the
more colors to be the merrier, so I don’t get why the Dew has to introduce three
new flavors, only to take two away after a vote.
Except if two out of the three ain’t good.
Two years ago, I wrote up the first “DEW-mocracy” for the OC
Weekly’s staff blog. Today, I give you a time-lapse video of me assessing all
three. It’s in two parts.
Cheers!
