Distributor Sentai Filmworks has acquired the epic fantasy anime series GUIN SAGA from Aniplex.  The series is based on the popular 151 volumes of novels written by Kauro Kurimoto, which tell the story of a leopard-headed warrior named Guin who vows to protect the twin royal heirs from the marauding Mongauli Army.  The novels have sold over 30 million copies in Japan.

I'm really excited about this news!  Studio Anima director Kazuya Sasahara has announced the first episode of the computer animated adaptation of the manga CAT SHIT ONE will be completed this coming August.  Created by Motofumi Kobayashi, CAT SHIT ONE was published by North America by ADV under the title of APOCALYPSE MEOW.  The planned 12-episode anime series of "real and fierce combat by cute and fluffy animals" updates the manga's premise (originally set during the Vietnam war) by making the three soldiers part of a modern private military company.

Rideback

Anime Expo recently announced that it will be hosting Japanese singer-songrwriter MELL, who can be heard on such popular anime soundtracks as BLACK LAGOON, RIDEBACK, and SKY GIRLS.  MELL launched her successful solo career with her 2006 single "Red fraction," which became the opening theme song for the first Black Lagoon anime series. She released her first album, Mellscope, in August 2008.
