NHL: Kings Becoming Counterculture In LA? Maybe...

Never one to betray my Detroit Red Wing loyalties I still found this article from Wall Street Journal Online to be an interesting read regarding the home town Los Angeles Kings and their emerging popularity in a town dominated by the Lakers.

As a serious hockey fan I found this article to be a heart warmer, and a grin inducer.  I've known for many years the virtues of hockey and even better the shame of supporting a sport that is considered beneath NASCAR (I'll still never understand the allure of watching left hand turns all day).  But maybe that tide is turning since the lockout.  I've even had the pleasure, yes the pleasure, of attending some Kings games in the past.  I could see the beginnings of what this article explores.

With the NHL Playoffs about to get under way in a couple hours I thought this would be an interesting read for the GEEKWEEK faithful.  Hope you enjoy this and the Playoffs.

Hockey's Kings Are Center of a Los Angeles Counterculture
