SXSW: Gwar is Coming

Of all the last-minute announcements coming Austin's way for the biggest 10 days of the year, Gwar, seems to have made the biggest splash. The (arguably) most crazy explosive what-the-hell-is-this band will be performing on Saturday March 20th at 1001 E. 6th St. for (get this) free. For those of you not educated on SXSW, there is a constant struggle between the actual festival events that require a badge, wristband or waiting in line and events like this one, which rely on sponsors to make events completely free.
The showcase is presented by Mess with Texas, who have been booking incredible non-official SXSW shows for years now. It's unclear whether or not free events like this actually hurt SXSW, but the general consensus is probably not.
