Olympic Hockey: Canada Sends The Russians Packing

Can
Canada will play for a medal in the men's Olympic hockey tournament with a dominant 7-3 victory over arch-rival Russia in their quarterfinal encounter.

Corey Perry scored twice while Roberto Luongo made 25 saves in the Canadian net for the victory.

After getting the start between the pipes for Russia, Evgeni Nabokov was extremely shaky, allowing six goals on 22 shots before being pulled in favour of Ilya Bryzgalov in the second period.

From the moment this match was announced the entire country of Canada (myself included) has been freaking out about having to meet such a powerhouse in the first round.

Well, we had to play them sooner or later - and I'm sure glad it was sooner rather than later. This one was over after the first period.

The Russians were never able to get going and Canada pounced with a barrage of shots that left Russian goaltender Evgeni Nabokov in as much awe as the home crowd that was witnessing this blow-out.

Canada now gets ready for a match-up with either Sweden or Slovakia in the semi-finals.

Is there anything better than Olympic hockey?!?!?
