Film Bits - Captain America Timeline & Patrick Stewart Rumor

Here's a couple of fun tidbits from the world of Geek Movies. Director Joe Johnston has given a timeline of sorts for the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America movie.

"We're in prep," Johnston says. "Rick Heinrichs is production-designing and we're set up down in Manhattan Beach [California]. It's the part of the process that I love the most," he enthuses. "We have eight or ten really talented artists, and we all just sit around all day and draw pictures and say, 'Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we could do this?' It's that phase of the production where money doesn't matter: ‘Let's put all the greatest stuff up on the wall and see what we can afford.'" The film, he says at this early stage, will begin "in 1942, 1943" during World War II. "The stuff in the ’60s and ’70s we're sort of avoiding. We're going back to the ’40s, and then forward to what they're doing with Captain America now."

I kind of figured they'd skip the Silver Age stuff for Captain America, this way they can get the origin out of the way and then bring him here so people don't feel like they're watching a period piece.

On the rumor mill apparently Star Trek's Captain Picard may "engage" for Fury Road the new Mad Max movie. During an interview Patrick Stewart apparently said he'd be working with George Miller on an "upcoming movie" which apparently isn't Happy Feet 2.

The only other Miller film out there is Fury Road so logic and the love of Stewart takes us to that place. As of right now it's just a rumor but it'd be an awesome one to come true. I'll keep you posted.
