This is the most headspinning thing I've seen/heard this week. Jesse Schell, founder of Schell Games, gave a talk at DICE 2010 on the future of gaming-- which you can watch below. If you have any interest in future technology/games/social media, this lecture is gonna mindfuck you.
Schell begins with a fascinating breakdown of those annoying Farmville/Mafia Wars Facebook games we've all come to loathe, but with an explanation as to why these games are as popular as they are...and where the talk ends-- man, it'll either excite you about the next ten years, or have you packing up your survival gear and headed to join a resistance movement in Montana.
If you have a half an hour to spare, I highly recommend checking this out-- Schell is a fun speaker, it goes by really quickly.
Thanks to our friends at G4 for posting this-- Fascinating stuff.
