FANTASY HOOPS: RANTS & RAVES

Anderson Varejao could end up being a big addition.
Shaquille O’Neal might be out for the long haul (6 weeks after surgery) in Cleveland,
while Zydrunas Ilgauskas is still a month away from
officially being able to re-sign with the team. The “Sideshow Bob”
look-alike will be more than just a carnival act and he can easily do 10
points, a dozen rebounds and a couple of blocks in 35 mpg. Varejao is
assuredly worth a flier right now.
Going into Week 19, there are a few injuries to monitor. The main
ones are Monta Ellis (back), Dwayne Wade
(calf), Shaquille O’ Neal (thumb), Paul Pierce
(thumb), Chris Bosh (ankle), and Trevor Ariza
(hip). Check my
Twitter page and, of course, join the Weekly Chat Monday at 6pm ET
for more info.
With the Minnesota Timberwolves playing only two games this week, be
wary of their two “studs,” Al Jefferson and Kevin
Love. Definitely bench Al-Jeff, who has been suspended for two
games (and has not been putting up the big numbers lately). K-Love
should be okay to play given Jefferson’s absence, though he has been a
victim of varying minutes from game to game, coming off the bench.
Teams w/4 games: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte,
Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Golden State, Houston, Indiana, L.A.
Clippers, L.A. Lakers, Memphis, New York, Oklahoma City, Orlando,
Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento
Teams w/3 games: Chicago, Miami, Milwaukee, New Jersey, New
Orleans, Portland, San Antonio, Toronto, Utah, Washington
Team w/2 games: Minnesota
