Denise Kuan is a fashion designer is Los Angeles.  She is also a life-long anime fan.  And over at her blog THE-OCD she writes eloquently about the meeting of those two worlds.  No where else will see an in-depth contrast and comparison look at past anime designs and current fashion trends -- from the characters created by Clamp and how they are influenced by the 2009 fall line of Valentino Couture....

To how CHOBITS is seemingly influenced by the Christian Dior Couture spring 2010 collection, or vice versa...

I'm actually surprised more has not been written on the fashion in anime.  Anime characters are often designed with some of the most elaborate and beautiful eye-popping costumes.  Which is why serious cosplayers are so obsessed with every little detail when it comes to dressing up like their favorite characters.

Cosplay is another topic Kuan passionately writes about, detailing some of her experiences in applying her knowledge with fashion design.

Denise Kuan doesn't just limit her blog's focus on anime and manga.  She also does fashion analysis in video games (yes, she's also a gamer) and costume analysis on stylistic movies like THE BROTHERS BLOOM.  For those looking for an exploration of the aesthetics of all things geek, make sure to bookmark THE-OCD.
