FANTASY HOOPS: RANTS & RAVES

Things to consider for this week
Vince Carter (sprained shoulder) is not doing his normal thing in Orlando. While he is being a brave warrior and playing through the pain to help his team, his poor shooting and lack of stats don’t help from a fantasy perspective. Ya gotta love him for trying, but 5 points and 2 assists in 21 minutes versus Portland? Surely you can do better than that off your bench in week 13…Brandon Roy is having continued hamstring issues. If the entire Pau Gasol situation taught us anything, it is that hamstrings must be rested to heal. Portland is a true contender this season and shouldn’t hesitate about letting their franchise player heal, so look for Andre Miller and Steve Blake to continue to excel in the stud’s absence, and for LaMarcus Aldridge to step his scoring up a notch as well in Portland…Chris Kaman had an epidural on his back the other day. While his MRI looks good, most players will not have that procedure done and rush right back to work. And if they do, they won’t be producing well. Look for DeAndre Jordan to be a good pickup for one more week out of L.A.…Kevin Garnett is shooting for a Friday return this period, so if you are in averages leagues, you might give him a go…Ben Gordon has had so many issues with his groin that if he actually sees playing time in the upcoming week, he’ll be rusty and overly anxious to fit into the already crowded rotation. Don’t count on too much from him!
