One of the Garden State’s finest bands, The Gaslight Anthem,
has a new record coming out June 15th and front man Brian Fallon let
slip what the band is calling their new sonic bundle of joy. American Slang.
Brian sat down with the good people at Express Night Out and
regaled them with everything from the record’s title, to growing up, and where
the band is headed musically. For
those of you who are familiar with the band and their imagery might not
recognize the band on this upcoming record.
"I've kind of abandoned all of that," said Fallon.
"There are no names and none of the old stuff. I feel like I've said a lot
of what I had to say about that old stuff. I'm moving on. ... ['American
Slang'] is a hyper-literal album. These stories are coming out of my life and
the reflections on the things I've gotten as I've gotten older. It's more
autobiographical, definitely more direct. Not so shrouded in mystery. I'm not
trying to confuse anyone with a trail of images on this one."
"I
think I have a better focus on what to say to people. Now, I have a reason to
tell people things, instead of crying on someone's shoulder. I just kind of got
ahead on it [life], and I know where it's going."
You can check out the full
interview here.
Good band that modeled themselves
after working class music heroes like, Bruce Springsteen, and The Clash. If you haven’t heard of them or any of
their music I would humbly suggest you check it out. You may find a new band to love.
