Dutch heavyweight Stefan Struve will be facing TUF10 season winner Roy ‘Big Country’ in his next fight, Fighters Only can reveal. The fight is set to take place at UFC Fight Night 21 in North Carolina and at least one of the fighters is understood to have returned a signed bout agreement.
Struve arrived in the UFC last year with a fight against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 95 in London, England. He was blitzed early by the Brazilian, but has since racked up three consecutive wins, one of which was a comeback war against Denis Stojnic.
The tall Dutchman’s last fight was a three-round decision win over Paul Buentello at UFC 107 and he has earned fans with his gutsy performances. The fact he is just 21 years old has also made him something of a housewive’s favourite, if the women in the Fighters Only office are anything to go by.
Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson is riding high at the moment after winning season ten of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. He beat Brendan Schaub in the season finale, his first official fight in the UFC (TUF matches are classed as exhibitions.)
Prior to that he was a 2-fight skid (one a somewhat controversial loss to Andrei Arlovski in EliteXC), and he holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and a professional MMA record of 14-4.
(RDLee's Thoughts: Roy Nelson should be able to KO him in the first or second round and pick up an easy win. I think Stefan is a decent gatekeeper type of fighter that Nelson can blow through to gain some fans and respect from the people who weren't impressed with his tenure on the Ultimate Fighter 10.)
