Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Tom Waits & Robert Wilson Go To The Theater

Not wanting to rest on their laurels with South Park, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are turning their attention to the world of Off Broadway Theater. The two are working with Robert Lopez on a musical about Mormans. I'm guessing since Lopez wrote the lyrics for Avenue Q (the adult Sesame Street complete with songs about porn and homosexuality) and the Parker/Stone duo love to court controversy this play is gonna piss a lot of people off.

The play is set for an August-September run at the New York Theater Workshop.

In other news legend, genius, icon and all around master of that which is good and right Tom Waits will teaming up once again with vanguard stage director Robert Wilson. This collaboration has yielded three brilliant works The Black Rider (with William S. Burroughs), a reworking of Alice In Wonderland & a new version of Georg Büchner’s Woyzeck.

No word yet on exactly what this fourth collaboration with give us but based on their track record I'll bet it'll be pretty killer. Scheduled to premiere in Paris in 2011 even you can't get out to see it the former projects have given us some of Tom Waits best recorded material so a record should be a no brainer.
