NEW YORK -- Allen Iverson
was voted to start in the NBA All-Star Game on Thursday, while Tim Duncan
and Victoria's Steve Nash
made late moves to claim starting spots for the Western Conference.
Nash passed the inactive Tracy McGrady
as the second guard, while Duncan disappointed Dallas fans hoping to
see Dirk Nowitzki
start by rallying past the Mavericks forward.
LeBron James
was the leading vote-getter for the Feb. 14 game at Cowboys Stadium,
becoming the first player to earn at least 2.5 million votes three
times. He will make his sixth all-star appearance, all as a starter.

Fan voting might be the NBA's way of encouraging fan participation but when players like A.I. ("past his prime" would be an understatement) get a starting position that's where we have to cry, um, foul.
The All-Star game is supposed to be about the best players in the game... today! Not the best players from yesterday. That's what Legends games are for.
Imagine if the fans voted for their favorite player in the NHL... This is probably what would happen.
