Brock Lesnar may be on the shelf... but that has not stopped the people around him from commenting on the UFC Heavyweight champions future.
Lesnar's trainer Greg Nelson was interviewed on ESPN's MMA Live on
Thursday, and once again reiterated that his fighter plans to continue
his UFC career.
"Brock Lesnar is definitely coming back to fight. He's just kind of
coming up slowly, trying to get his body ready and being smart with his
recovery," Nelson explained on MMA Live.
"He's been going in to the doctor and making sure everything's going
well for him. "He'll continue to go in for a couple more tests to make
sure he's 100 percent ready to train when he starts up," added Nelson.
Lesnar was supposed to fight Undefeated Shane Carwin at UFC 106 this past November, but Lesnar's illness postponed the big match up. After a few months of uncertainty... the UFC has now decided to have a match between Carwin vs Mir for the vacated Heavyweight title at UFC 111, hoping that Lesnar can get well and challenge either man for the undisputed title down the road.
Nelson is confident that once Lesnar does return, it won't take long for him to regain his form.
"Being the athlete that he is and just a strong, tough guy, he's
used to dealing with adversity and stuff like that, I think he'll be
able to come back faster probably than people expect, but we're not
going to push the river at all. We want him to be 100 percent healthy
when he begins to train," he said. "I'm sure once he gets going he'll
be at the top of his game real quick."
