HBO's BOARDWALK EMPIRE Will Shotgun You With Awesome...

Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, Steve Buscemi, Gretchen Mol, Michael Shannon, Michael K. Williams, Michael Pitt, Kelly MacDonald, Michael Stuhlbarg and HBO. What, that's not good enough for you? How about DABNEY COLEMAN?! There, that oughta do it.

That crew has come together for "Boardwalk Empire", HBO's new show about gangsters - which should make people still jonesing for more "Sopranos" ecstatic, especially as it's the brainchild of Terence Winter, who was like Silvio to David Chase's Tony. And not just any gangsters -  these guys are OGs. "Boardwalk Empire" is an Atlantic City-set Prohibition-era tale, as much about political intrigue as it is about gunshots. So actually, it's kind of like "The Wire" as well...

Scorsese directed the pilot and is on board as an executive producer. With David Simon's "Treme" also set to hit the airwaves in a few months, it appears as though HBO is harkening back to its two best shows to recover its once unstoppable mojo.
