GO MUTANTS! aka Heather Has a Fourth Hand That You Can't See Until You Do (a new novel from Larry Doyle)

Doyle's I LOVE YOU BETH COOPER (the book, not the movie) was a thing of beauty.  This one, part comic book, part throwback to the 50s high school drama, part comedy... wait hold that... all comedy... this one is fantastic.  I got a sneak preview of the first few chapters and I can say that nothing else is like it and everything else wants to be like it.

Larry isn't the easiest comedy writer to pin down but he's one of the most enjoyable to read.  And without spoiling GO MUTANTS! I'll say the forces within are dark and yet the writing is hopeful.  Some of it reminds me of "Stand By Me" and some of it reminds me of "Another Bullshit Night In Suck City."  And there are mutants.
