EXCLUSIVE : DEATH RACE 2 just got hotter!

Phoenix South African Beauty Tanit Phoenix is said to be in talks to join Luke Goss for the direct-to-video prequel to Death Race.

In Death Race : Frankenstein Lives, Goss (Hellboy II : The Golden Army) plays Carl ‘Luke’ Lucas, a crook doing time at a prison for the most nonredeemable of convicts, who is forced into putting pedal to the mettle in a race to the death.

Phoenix, whose credits include Lord of War, Gallowalker, and the upcoming Lost Boys : The Thirst, is believed to be the frontrunner to play Elizabeth Jane Case, a card girl for the fight matches, later a navigator when the prisoners are forced to test their driving skills, who develops a 'close' bond with Lucas. She’s in prison for accidentally killing her cop husband.

The flick, directed by Roel Renie (The Marine 2), lenses next month in South Africa.

Meanwhile Phoenix has wrapped production on the new Lost Boys’ sequel (which, like Lost Boys 2 : The Tribe, is headed straight to disc). In it, she plays a wealthy vampire-romance novelist who hires Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) to track down a missing family member. "Apparently" it's better than the last one.
