Remember when A&E actually was a reasonably high-brow arts and entertainment network? I blame Dog the Bounty Hunter and re-runs of Law and Order for the toboggan ride it's taken down "Lowest Common Denominator Hill". Their latest foray into the reality skein is aother step toward social retardation but Don't Hassle the Hoff... or he'll get drunk as a skunk and eat a pulled pork sammich out of a take-out container on your kitchen floor!
David Hasselhoff, who just exited "America's Got Talent" is already heading back to television as the star of a new reality show on cable network A&E. The show will focus on the Kinght Rider star's attempts to help his teenage daughters launch a music career. WENN.com reports:
The series will document the star's business ventures, as well as his role as a divorced father caring for two teenagers. The show will also follow Hasselhoff's daughters, Taylor-Ann, 19, and Hayley, 17, as they attempt to launch careers in the music industry.
And Hasselhoff hopes the programme will give the girls their big break.
He says in a statement, "It's the dream of every parent to be able to help their children succeed. I told the girls that I would help them open the door when they are ready, but they would have to walk through it on their own. This is their time."
Do these girls have any talent? Cuz if not, I hope they look halfway decent in bikinis. I'm pointing at YOU, Brooke Hogan! But seriously, this is a perfect example of why these shows shouldn't even be called "reality" shows. A reality show about David Hasselhoff would include his battle with the bottle... wouldn't it?
Anthony Kingdom James is the host of The Handsome Genius Club Radio Show, a weekly pop culture podcast. He lives in Toronto, Canada and his kung-fu is strong.
