Ladies Shrieking About Other Ladies. Perfect.

I actually really like this fashion spread in V Magazine. Added bonus? The Webfeminists of Jezebel hate it and are shrieking "is it a contest?" That website can misread anything as anti-woman.
And the way the entire shoot is structured to encourage the reader to compare Renn to Jablonski — as if that's what we women need, to decide the age-old battle between plus-size and straight-size models, once and for all! — just makes me want to barf. The point shouldn't be to focus on the differences between these women and decide who looks better.
Thank god Jezebel is there to protect women from something as upsetting as body shape comparison! We were talking about this last night, about how after the Naomi Wolff book THE BEAUTY MYTH came out and all that rape talk and political correctness hit campuses, there was an overwhelming theory that women are unable to handle themselves. That we need protection from skinny women, sexiness and other things that might make us feel bad about ourselves. And the people who were saying this weren't mean old Right wing men. Nope, it was lefty ladies who used feminism to oppress other women.
Look. This is a magazine spread. It actually is entertaining and fun and shows some cool styles on two body types. Jezebel needs a fucking hobby if they are getting all crazy about this.
